Curiosities of the cupcake

The frosting can be made with royal icing, sugarpaste or buttercream.

Or with a cream filling with various decorations, with colored sugar or with plasticized chocolate.

Cupcake Preparación

The basic recipe for cupcakes resembles that of classic cakes.

Cupcakes are often used as sweet treats to accompany tea or, as is the case in the United States of America, they are the protagonists of children’s birthday parties or special celebrations.

But there are also savory versions to offer as an appetizer, where creams using carrot, zucchini or cheese are used as filling.

Learn about the origin of the cupcake

There are two theories about the birth of the cupcake that took place in the 17th century, the best known attributes the name to the fact that initially the baking of the small cakes was done in cups, since modern cups or molds for muffins did not yet exist.

The second hypothesis is that being Anglo-Saxon sweets, the quantities of ingredients were indicated in cups.

American housewives of the time were conquered by it. In fact, mini cupcakes were easier to make, faster to cook and cheaper than a super fluffy cake.

The cupcake immediately entered the hearts of all Americans, and then spread in Italy in the late 2000s, especially thanks to television, to American series, such as Sex and the City , where Miranda used to eat cup cakes to make up for the lack of affection, thus making the Magnolia Bakery chain a real cult place.

Or thanks to Real Time with its broadcast “La bottega dei Cupcake” which talks about the activity of the Georgetown Cupcake bakery, specialized in the production of the famous sweets.

However, we can say that the real affirmation of cupcakes in America came only after Amelia Simmons mentioned them in 1796 in her book American Cookery, the first real cookbook that can be found in history.

Conclusions
